The Community Channel claims to be the first “ethical shopping channel”, and is broadcast on Sky Digital (number 655) between 1pm and 4pm each afternoon, and 24 hours a day on the Internet.
The Channel is a not-for-profit venture and is wholly owned by the Media Trust, a charity that works in partnership with the media to meet the communication needs of the voluntary sector. The channel has been funded through cash and in-kind support from the Active Community Unit of the Home Office, the National Lottery Charities Board, the Department for International Development, and BskyB.
