Building society offers charity incentive

Howard Lake | 25 June 2000 | News

Charity fundraisers often use incentives to attract or raise the level of donations. Charities can also act as incentives for corporate supporters. For example, the West Bromwich Building Society is currently urging members to return their AGM voting forms with an offer of 10p to the NSPCC for every voting form returned.

In September 1997 the NSPCC benefited from the Skipton Building Society who required all new investors to donate £25 to the charity as a means of deterring “carpetbaggers” who were keen to secure a windfall from demutualisation. The relationship raised £400,000 for the charity.
