The National Lottery Community Fund’s announcement joins another from National Lottery Heritage Fund, as well as from charities including Crohn’s & Colitis UK, London’s Air Ambulance Charity, and BookTrust.
The National Lottery Community Fund appoints new England Directors
The National Lottery Community Fund has announced the appointment of two new England Directors, with joint responsibility for the over £450 million a year funded to projects and communities across England. Phil Chamberlain will have responsibility for strategy, partnerships and engagement, and Emma Corrigan will oversee programmes, operations and regions. The Directors will play an instrumental role in the Fund’s recently launched Strategy Renewal process. Most recently, Chamberlain was Executive Director for External Engagement at City Lit, and before that held a number of senior leadership positions at the Youth Sport Trust, Legacy Trust UK and at The National Lottery Community Fund’s predecessor, the Big Lottery Fund. With over 20 years’ experience in grant making, Corrigan was most recently the Head of Design and Delivery at BBC Children in Need. Prior to that she worked for a range of funders, including Community Foundations and Housing Associations. Both join in late June.

Dr Jackie Craissati joins Crohn’s & Colitis UK as Chair of Board of Trustees
Crohn’s & Colitis UK has announced that Dr Jackie Craissati MBE is its new Chair of the Board of Trustees. She brings a wealth of experience, having been involved in public sector and charity work throughout her professional life. Craissati is currently Chair of Kent and Medway NHS Trust. She was a trustee on the Board of the Samaritans and has a background in clinical and forensic psychology. Craissati also has a personal connection to Crohn’s and Colitis, having supported her son since his diagnosis 10 years ago. This has given her real insight into the small things that made a difference to people living with the conditions.
Five new trustees for London’s Air Ambulance Charity
London’s Air Ambulance Charity has announced the recruitment of five new trustees to the Charity’s board. Rita Chadha, Bianca Gill (pictured), Sheri Adigun, Gordon Pitman and Nick Goodwyn were appointed following a competitive process which saw over 40 applications. Sheri Adigun is Senior Commercial Finance Manager at the Wellcome Trust, overseeing International activities & UK finance, Rita Chadha has had a lifelong career in the not-for-profit sector, working for over twenty different international, national, and local charities and is currently Director of City Sikh, Bianca Gill is an audit associate partner at Ernst & Young, where she has spent over 20 years auditing both private and listed companies in the real estate and construction sectors, Nick Goodwyn is Flight Operations Officer at the Civil Aviation Authority and Master at the Honourable Company of Air Pilots, and Gordon Pitman is Chief HR Officer at GKN Aerospace since 2016 and is a member of the Aerospace Executive team.
Hilary Murray Hill appointed to BookTrust Board of Trustees
BookTrust has boosted its Board of Trustees with the appointment of Hilary Murray Hill, CEO Hachette Children’s Group. Murray Hill’s appointment will provide expertise and insight into the wider children’s publishing industry to strengthen BookTrust’s focus on reaching the most disadvantaged children and families. Currently CEO of Hachette Children’s Group, Murray Hill has also held senior roles at Egmont, Usborne and Scholastic Children’s Books. She chaired the Children’s Group of the Publishers’ Association between 2018-2021 and has been a school governor.
Two new Trustees for National Lottery Heritage Fund & National Heritage Memorial Fund
The new Trustees are appointed by National Lottery Heritage Fund & National Heritage Memorial Fund on three-year terms until 30 April 2025. Julian Glover OBE is an author and journalist with extensive experience of working with government. He led the Landscapes Review for Defra, into better ways of running England’s protected areas, and has been a special advisor in both Number 10 and the Department for Transport. Taryn Nixon is an archaeologist with a background of leadership in the historic environment sector. A heritage management advisor and former Chief Executive of Museum of London Archaeology, she is also a Trustee of the newly established National Trails UK. Glover will also become Chair of the Midlands & East Committee and Nixon will be Chair of the London & South Committee.
Dr Isabel DiVanna joins EngineeringUK as Director of Business Development & Partnerships
Dr DiVanna has worked in the not-for-profit sector for 10 years, having previously worked in private sector consultancy and in academia. She joins EngineeringUK from RenewableUK, the trade body for green energy, where she was Executive Director of commercial & customer experience. DiVanna was also previously commercial director at the General Council of the Bar, at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, working with pharma and medtech, and at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, working with defence, aerospace, manufacturing and energy sectors on geoeconomics and geopolitics through consultancy and corporate membership.
Keith Macpherson joins audit team at Henderson Loggie
Accountancy and business advisory firm Henderson Loggie has strengthened its audit team with the appointment of a new partner. Charity specialist Keith Macpherson, who takes up the role from his position as audit director and head of not-for-profit at Johnston Carmichael, brings with him more than 20 years of experience supporting public and third sector clients across Scotland. Macpherson began his accountancy training with KPMG after an early career as an academic and research scientist in astrophysics. He joined EY in Glasgow to support their re-entry into public sector audit in Scotland and while there spent time on secondment to Audit Scotland.
Alison Lonshein joins Withers US Charities & Philanthropy team
International law firm Withers has welcomed Alison Lonshein as a special counsel in its US Charities and Philanthropy team, based in New York. She joins from The Frick Collection, where she acted as General Counsel and Assistant Secretary. Lonshein has over twenty years’ experience of advising tax-exempt organisations on corporate, fundraising and finance, tax, governance and regulatory matters. She also works with philanthropists on tax and other issues related to charitable giving and establishing new entities. Before her role at The Frick Collection, she previously worked in the tax-exempt organisations practice group of Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP. At Withers she will work alongside colleagues on the east and west coasts, as well as within Withers’ unique global practice, to advise nonprofits and philanthropists on the full range of US tax and operational matters.
