Promenaders’ Musical Charities has reported an initial total of £2,350 raised during the first week of the 2020 BBC Proms online collection, with £1,620 pledged to Help Musicians UK and £730 to CLIC Sargent.

The 2020 Proms season is running without a live audience for the first time, meaning the charity is unable to collect donations in person at concerts. Instead, donations are being collected through JustGiving pages.

Help Musicians UK is being supported for its COVID-19 hardship fund, helping freelance musicians whose earnings have been severely affected by the pandemic. CLIC Sargent receives funding for its music therapy work with children and young people with cancer.
