Researchers in Fundraising conference
Thank you very much to all the committee, members, volunteers, speakers and sponsors who helped to make the recent Researchers in Fundraising conference such a success. It was great to see such a turnout, with almost 250 people in attendance. There were too many great looking workshops, so I had to miss a few. Oliver Taylor of Manchester University helped us to get to grips with recent (and proposed) changes at Companies House, Tony Duggan of Cambridge University gave an informative talk on prospects in the finance sector, and Victoria Cetinkaya from the Information Commissioner’s Office left delegates reassured and worried in equal measure, with a talk on data protection, including some changes heading our way. The final panel discussion on the future of fundraising provided me with an opportunity to ask Dan Fluskey about charity registers, with a particular concern about The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator redacting the names of trustees when making accounts available. I have to do list to tackle, so I had better get on with it.
