Irish arts fundraising grows by 15%

Irish Arts Council funded organisations secured €8.6m in private investment in 2014, with 60% from philanthropy and 40% from sponsorship, according to a report by consultancy firm 2into3.
Compared to 2013, voluntary income has increased by 17%, while sponsorship increased by 13%. The reported total private investment increase is 15%.
Theatre and festivals were the predominant art forms receiving support. Between 2013 and 2014, private investment for festivals increased by 33%, while support for film and theatre increased by 30% and 28% respectively.
Private investment included donations, corporate donations and charitable trusts and accounted for 7.8% of total turnover for arts organisations in 2014. The study is based on information submitted by 177 organisations.
Large organisations (turnover over €800,000) experienced an increase in private investment income of 10% in 2014 when compared to the previous year. Voluntary income rose by 17%, while sponsorship showed no change.
Medium organisations (€300,000 to €800,000) reported an increase in private investment of 45% compared to 2013. Voluntary income increased by 39% while sponsorship increased by just over 50%.
For small organisations (under €300,000 turnover) private investment increased by 6%, voluntary income increased by 2% and sponsorship grew by 13%.
