New social media toolkit helps charities with fundraising

A social media toolkit aimed at charities and the third sector has launched, with a special chapter dedicated to how to campaign and fundraise using social media.
The Charity Social Media Toolkit has been developed by the Skills Platform and digital marketing and brand specialist Zoe Amar, and is available online.
As well as covering how to campaign and fundraise through using social media, the eight chapters of the toolkit include: growing social networks, how to establish a social media policy within an organisation, and how to analyse results. It includes tips for charities at early stages with social media as well for those that are more advanced.
A number of charities contributed to its development, including the Fawcett Society, Breast Cancer Care, Joseph Rowntree Foundation and CLIC Sargent.
Dave Evans from the Skills Platform said:

“As an organisation, we want to ensure the charity sector feels supported in learning new skills to continue to deliver what they need to in an efficient manner, and for many charities and third sector organisations, social media enables this opportunity.
“Social media is a free resource that can prove truly valuable to those charities who may not have enough budget or time to do traditional marketing or advertising. We wanted to create the toolkit to break down the walls of social media to all and encourage them to give social media a try.”
