Crowdfunder & Nesta offer extra funding for artists & heritage projects

Melanie May | 8 September 2016 | News

Crowdfunder and Nesta have announced that they are working together to provide extra funding for arts and heritage ideas that can demonstrate support from the Crowd.
The scheme launches this month, with funding available from Arts Council England and Heritage Lottery Fund, supported by the Department for Culture, Media & Sport. The organisations are using Crowdfunder to distribute extra funding for projects that initially gather support from the Crowd.
Under Crowdfund the arts, extra funding of between £1,000 and £10,000 is available for 25% of a project’s total if Crowdfunder projects are able to raise 75% of the target from the Crowd. This funding is available for individual artists based in England only. Arts projects could range from visual and performance art to spaces and events that encourage creativity.
Crowdfund for heritage again sees extra funding of between £1,000 and £10,000 made available for 25% of a project’s total if Crowdfunder projects are able to raise 75% of the target from the Crowd. This funding is available for organisations, rather than individuals in the South West and North West of England and Scotland to support community assets and celebrate local culture.
Those interested in this funding can register their interest at: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/success-stories/nesta-register-30082016.
Phil Geraghty, MD at Crowdfunder, said:

“We are seeing huge growth in crowdfunding for arts and heritage projects having already raised in excess of £5m on Crowdfunder, and this is a great opportunity for cultural projects to unlock extra funding with the support and validation of the crowd.”
