Comic Relief updates grants strategy to provide more flexible support
Comic Relief has launched an updated grants strategy to enable it to fund new initiatives to drive sustainable change across the UK and overseas, as well as improve its speed and flexibility of response.
According to Comic Relief, under the new grant making approach there will be a greater emphasis on strengthening its partnerships with grant recipients in order to co-create initiatives and support people in developing their own solutions to challenges.
The application process has also been streamlined to make applying easier, to help Comic Relief respond faster and ensure that funding reaches people more rapidly, and to better support smaller organisations that apply.
Grant making will be focused on four key programme areas both in the UK and around the world:
- Investing in children and young people to help prepare them for the future
- Empowering women and girls to be free to lead the lives they choose
- Improving the health and wellbeing of vulnerable and disadvantaged people
- Building stronger communities in areas of disadvantage, deprivation and poverty
Comic Relief will also continue in its role of funding programmes that support ‘Tech for Good’ and ‘Sport for Change’, and will continue to support existing partners and projects.
Comic Relief is now seeking applications from organisations under its four programme areas. Organisations can apply for funding, or find more details on the Comic Relief site.
Judith McNeill, Comic Relief grants director, said:
“We want to be more flexible, agile and proactive than ever before with this new strategy. Building on our 30 years of experience, we will continue to fund established and new initiatives that drive sustainable change and transform lives both here in the UK and around the world.”
