Nisa raises record amount for charity

Melanie May | 21 April 2016 | News

Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity donated its biggest ever amount to charity last quarter.
Between January and April there were a total of 363 donations made through the charity to 298 causes, totalling just under £300,000.
The charity raises funds in Nisa member stores through the sale of items from Nisa’s own-label Heritage range and a selection of branded products, which carry charitable donations from the suppliers. Money raised goes into a virtual fund for the store to donate to a local charity or good cause within a 10-mile radius. There are currently more than 2,300 retailers participating in the scheme.

Since May 2008, it has donated over £5 million in total. Last year saw it donate just under £1 million, and make its largest single donation to date: £100,000 to When You Wish Upon a Star, which grants the wishes of children with life-limiting or terminal illnesses.
Kate Carroll, charity manager for Making a Difference Locally said:

“MADL offers a real opportunity for our members to build strong, positive relationships with their local communities and it is encouraging to see that so many of our retailers are utilising the charity to truly make a difference to these communities.”
