The Christie to benefit from ode to Tony Wilson charity single

Howard Lake | 12 August 2015 | News

The anniversary of the death of Factory Records founder Tony Wilson is being commemorated with a charity single which will raise funds for The Christie Charitable Fund at the cancer treatment centre in Manchester.
The video of St Anthony: An Ode to Anthony H Wilson, by Mike Garry and Joe Duddell, features a remarkable array of actors, musicians, journalists, and poets including Steve Coogan, Christopher Ecclestone, Terry Christian, Richard Madeley, Julie Hesmondhalgh, John Cooper Clarke, and Philip Glass.
It is a fast-paced paean to Wilson and to Manchester, its people, buildings, history and music. There are also references to The Christie and its work.
Wilson died of cancer in 2007. This year would have been his 65th birthday of the record label owner, nightclub manager, impresario, TV and radio presenter and journalist.
