Eilis Murray is new head at Philanthropy Ireland
Philanthropy Ireland, a body working to promote philanthropy in Ireland, has a new chief executive.
Eilis Murray, Philanthropy Ireland’s former Membership and Information Manager, has been appointed to replace Seamus Mulconry who has headed the organisation since 2010.
PI’s mission is to expand the community of engaged donors who are regular, strategic, long-term contributors to good causes. PI was originally set up with support from Atlantic Philanthropies and has since received support from other foundations and the Irish government.
Last year PI was embroiled in a controversy involving its former chairman, Frank Flannery, who was paid €60,000 a year as a consultant to the organisation. Mr Flannery helped secure €631,000 in 2012 for PI for a national giving campaign.
