Localgiving to run £5 match fund campaign

Howard Lake | 10 January 2015 | News

Online giving service Localgiving will run another match fund campaign starting at the end of this month, enabling smaller and local charities across the UK to double the value of some of their donations.
The #GiveMe5 campaign will double 1,000 £5 donations made during a 24 hour period. There will be two campaigns, one on Wednesday 28 January and the second on Wednesday 25 February 2015.
The new match fund campaign follows the success of Localgiving’s one-day Triple Tenner Tuesday campaign with which they marked the UK’s first Giving Tuesday. On 2 December 2014 583 groups raised £75,736 in just 24 hours, with donations of £10 being trebled in value.

How to get involved in #GiveMe5

If your local charity would like to get involved in the #GiveMe5 campaign and other match fund initiatives then it needs to register for Localgiving membership.
To be clear, each £5 donation made to a charity during the two one-day campaigns will be placed into a draw to be doubled with an extra £5 of match funding.
Donations of other amounts will not be eligible for match funding, but of course will be received by the recipient charity.
So, there is no guarantee that a £5 donation during the campaign will be doubled. But you can boost your chances of receiving a doubled donation by – you guessed it – asking more of your donors to give £5 and inviting them to give more than one £5 donation. Localgiving’s terms say that donors may make as many £5 donations during the promotion as they wish.
Even better – “there is no limit to the amount of match funding any single group may receive”.
