UNICEF app lets you record your version of John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, UNICEF has announced the #IMAGINE project. The global children’s charity is inviting people to download its free app and record your own version of ‘Imagine’, John Lennon’s song of hope and peace.
All contributions will appear, via interactive technology from TouchCast, spliced with popular musicians and singers and images of New York in what UNICEF hopes will be “the largest ever global sing-along”.
All videos appear in black and white, like the original Lennon video for the song.

The campaign has the support of artist Yoko Ono, music producer David Guetta, UNICEF Ambassadors including Katy Perry, Angélique Kidjo, Daniela Mercury, Priyanka Chopra, and Yuna Kim, and many other high profile supporters.
The aim of #IMAGINE is to create “a unique moment in music history that will highlight the tremendous challenges children face the world over”.
All versions contributed will be part of a new David Guetta ‘world version’ of Imagine for UNICEF, to be released in time for New Year’s Eve 2014.
Although the app is free to download, there are prominent requests to ‘donate’ on the campaign’s website.
