Institute of Fundraising’s National Awards winners announced

The winners of the 2014 Institute of Fundraising National Awards were announced on Monday in London at the National Convention.
Hosted by comedian Ruby Wax, the 22nd annual awards celebrated the success of charities, fundraising teams and individuals, paid staff and volunteers. Wax, who has a long association with Comic Relief and who acknowledged to the audience she has become “the poster girl for mental health”, proved a popular choice, poking fun at outgoing Chair of the Institute Mark Astarita, some of the sponsors’ company names, and the number of the awards.

Lifetime Contribution Award for Marion Allford

This year, the Lifetime Contribution Award was presented to Marion Allford, who was Director of the Wishing Well Appeal which raised £84 million in the 1980s for Great Ormond Street: this is still the highest amount ever raised by a UK hospital appeal.
Congratulating the nominees and winners, Kevin Kibble, Chair of Judges for the National Awards, said:

“The IoF National Awards are about celebrating the very best of fundraising over the last year. Being part of the fundraising profession makes me feel immensely proud and tonight we have honoured some of the best in the business. All of our shortlisted entries this year were of an extremely high calibre and are an inspiration to us all.”
