Sainsbury’s stores seek local charity partners
Sainsbury’s stores across the UK are once again inviting their customers to nominate their favourite local registered charity to become the branch’s charity of the year. Each selected charity will benefit from fundraising and volunteering from that store’s staff and customers
Over the past five years, Sainsbury’s stores have raised over £6 million for these local charity partnerships.
PR Ambassador & Community Representative, Jason Elton from the Kempshott store in Basingstoke said:
“The voting started last Wednesday and our customers have nominated over 70 charities via the online nominations. With our post box in the store getting more and more suggestions, it will give us a busy selection process when voting finishes on June 8th.”

How to nominate a charity
Nominations can be made online or within your local shop. The form is very basic, requiring just the charity’s name, registration number, contact details, and a reason in no more than 500 words.
Nominations close on 8 June 2014.
Each store will then shortlist three charities, who will be invited in to pitch to staff.
What are your chances of getting selected? The competition is certainly popular: last year 110,000 nominations were received.
