Women-only 10k running series partners with Breakthrough Breast Cancer
The Women’s Running 10k Race Series has chosen Breakthrough Breast Cancer as its official charity partner for the 2014 race series. Organisers will be encouraging runners to choose to fundraise for the charity.
This is the second year of the race series, organised by Women’s Running magazine.
In its first year, nearly 2,000 women took part in three events in Bristol, Nottingham and London. This year, there are 10 events. They take place in Bristol, Nottingham and Finsbury Park in London, as well as Lee Valley Country Park in London, Sutton Park in Birmingham, Bute Park in Cardiff, Southampton Common, Willen Lake in Milton Keynes, Sefton Park in Liverpool and Strathclyde Country Park in Glasgow.
The races are “suitable for runners of all abilities”, with a team of four pacers available, targeting times of 50 minutes, 55 minutes, 60 minutes and a run/walk group aiming for approximately 70 minutes.
Christina Macdonald, Editor of Women’s Running Magazine said:
“These events are suitable for all abilities and are a great way for women just starting out with running to take part in an organised race, while also being ideal for seasoned runners looking to achieve a personal best.
“The Women’s Running 10k Series is a great opportunity for women to fundraise for their chosen charity, although as our official charity partner, we would be delighted if entrants chose to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer”.
The race series is open for entries, priced at £26. Runners can choose to fundraise for Breakthrough Breast Cancer when they enter on the Women’s Running 10k website.
