Big Six energy companies could return £400m of Customers’ Cash: roll on April Fuels Day

According to Sky News, Ofgem is set to announce that it’s pursuing the likes of Npower, British Gas and SSE over an estimated £400m held in customers’ accounts which have been closed. It will also be asking the Big Six to find ways to publicise what they will do with any unclaimed funds. This must present a fantastic opportunity for fundraisers to make the case for any unclaimed cash to be distributed amongst charities that focus on alleviating fuel poverty.  Furthermore, charities that already have links with these companies should consider asking them to give ex-customers the option to donate their refunds.
So, energetic fundraisers, are you ready to make a powerful case for this? Could it be time for a national April Fuels Day campaign?
