Cass Business School in London is hosting a year-long programme of free events for charity leaders and City business people, with the aim of increasing the number and effectiveness of charity Chairs.
Lord Mayor’s Charity Leadership Programme has been developed by Nicholas Woolf, The Lord Mayor’s Consort 2014. His wife, Alderman Fiona Woolf CBE took up her position as the Rt. Hon. Lord Mayor of the City of London on November 2013.
There are three sets of events during the year.

The City’s Giving Lectures

Speakers from the charity and social philanthropy sector will highlight some of the challenges and opportunities which impact the effectiveness of charities and those that lead them. The first event took place in November, but the second, on 23 January, features Sir Ronald Cohen speaking on revolutionising philanthropy and impact investment.

Debates and networking events for Chairs

The three events in 2014 will focus on social welfare, social mobility and social engagement, and are designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas and debate key social challenges. Speakers include ministers and senior sector experts.

Chairs Conference

This half-day event on 21 October 2014 is to help Chairs and would-be Chairs to become better informed about the challenges and responsibilities of the role. It is designed as the climax of the series of events.
The programme of events is supported by Mazars LLP, the Macquarie Group Foundation and Cass Business School.
