Charity ‘Dragons’ Den’ event in Belfast to benefit five charities
A ‘Dragons’ Den’ type event will be held later this month at Belfast’s City Hall to raise funds for five charities.
‘The Funding Network Belfast’ will take place on 27 November and is supported by Belfast Lord Mayor Máirtín Ó Muilleoir. Up to 80 guests will attend to pool their money in an effort to support local community projects.
The beneficiary charities are:
- Savia (Survivors and Victims of Institutional Abuse)
- SOS Bus NI
- Open Arts Community Choir
- Conway Education Centre
- Angel Eyes
They were all given a training session in pitching for funds led by Funding Network trainer Karen Millen.
The event is being organised by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland (CFNI) in partnership with Giving Northern Ireland.
The Lord Mayor will be personally sponsoring Open Arts Community Choir. He said: “This will make a massive impact on local charities which rely so heavily on financial support to carry out their amazing work within our communities.”
Sandara Kelso Robb, Strategic Advisor for Giving Northern Ireland, added: “This is precisely the type of event that Giving Northern Ireland is committed to as it will help to raise the profile of philanthropic giving and therefore boost the finances of important and worthy causes.”
