Applications open for IoF’s Student Fundraising Scheme

Howard Lake | 3 September 2013 | News

The Institute of Fundraising's pilot student fundraising scheme will help 22 student fundraisers develop their fundraising skills and gain a qualification for free.

Students taking part will receive ongoing support from their charity sponsors to help them improve their fundraising activities at their students’ union or university. The students will also study for the Institute’s Introductory Certificate in Fundraising and receive 12 month’s associate membership of the Institute.

The new scheme is being run in collaboration with recruitment specialists Charity People and three charities: Send a Cow, The Children’s Society, and Meningitis UK. It also has the support of the National Union of Students (NUS). The pilot was developed with assistance from employability staff at Leeds University Union.

Paul Marvell, Director of Professional Development & Membership said that he hoped that the scheme could be extended to "many other charities and students".

Karl Gwilliam Events and Community Fundraising Manager, Send a Cow said: “Smaller charities like Send a Cow have just as much to offer students and their RAG's as the larger charities as we hope that this pilot evidences.  Ultimately, we want to identify and attract more fundraisers and volunteers but importantly to provide students with potential career opportunities within fundraising."

How to apply

Applicants can apply to only one charity, which will then review the applications.

The closing date for student applications is 11 October 2013. Those selected will be notified by 31 October.
