Marie Curie Cancer Care has been named as the first official charity partner for the Tour de France 2014 in the UK.

The first three stages of the Tour de France, which attracts “a TV audience of over 3.5 billion people” will next year take place in three locations in England. The Grand Départ begins on 5 and 6 July 2014 in Yorkshire, and then heads south on the next day, before moving on to France.

Dr Jane Collins, Chief Executive of Marie Curie, said: “This is a great honour for Marie Curie. The Tour de France is the most famous cycling race in the world and for us to be associated with such a prestigious and well respected event is fantastic.”
