Dorset Community Foundation runs Do It For Dorset Day

Howard Lake | 21 June 2013 | News

Dorset Community Foundation has persuaded local authorities, companies and charities across the county to make today the first 'Do It for Dorset Day', a day of fundraising events. The funds raised will go towards one of the area-specific community funds (Bournemouth, Poole and shire Dorset) that are managed by the Community Foundation.

Bournemouth Council, the Borough of Poole, and Dorset-based companies Ceuta Health, BH Live and Coleman's Insurance are just some of the organisations taking part.

All individual and company donations over £250 will be matched by 50p for every £1 from the Community First Scheme. So every £250 becomes £375.

The one-day event is designed in particular for small charities who find it hard to compete for awareness and funding against the larger regional and national charities.

Tony Williams, Chief Executive at Bournemouth Council, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Do it for Dorset Day celebrations, especially as our efforts will directly help local people. I would encourage the whole town to get creative in their fundraising activities to raise as much money as we can."
