Guardian Charity Awards 2013 open for entries
Small UK social welfare charities are now invited to enter The Guardian Charity Awards, the winners of which will share a £25,000 prize fund, plus a tailored package of training and support.
The 21st annual Guardian Charity Awards are designed to showcase excellence and impact among small and medium-sized charities. They also often help the winners gain a wider profile which can lead to access to more funding.
Eligibility
The Guardian Charity Awards 2013 in association with Zurich are open to registered charities with annual incomes of less than £1.5 million and which have been operating as registered charities for more than two years.

David Brindle, public services editor at The Guardian defines a UK social welfare charity as "any eligible registered charity that helps people in Britain and/or Northern Ireland. It can be nationwide or just at community level. It can have a strong environmental theme, or involve animals, but the key thing is that it must deliver clear benefit to people – adults or children – who are disadvantaged by poverty or disability or are marginalised in some other way. If you're not sure if you qualify, don't hesitate to ask."
