Still from Christian Aid Week TV advert 2013
Bite Back at Hunger campaign comes to TV

Christian Aid has launched a TV advert to promote Christian Aid Week, which runs from 12 to 18 May 2013.

Part of the ‘Bite Back at Hunger’ theme of this year’s campaign, it presents a positive image of how the charity is helping to overcome poverty. It is being broadcast on all the UK’s major commercial channels throughout Christian Aid Week.

There are no professional actors involved. It was filmed in York Island, a fishing village of around 200 people in southern Sierra Leone. The character of ‘Mo’ is played by Michael, the head teacher of York Island’s school, and a former fisherman. The children go to Michael’s school.

In this district Christian Aid provides support such as the solar-powered freezer that is mentioned in the advert.
