Oxfam offers Nectar points for donated goods

Howard Lake | 5 April 2013 | News

Oxfam has partnered with loyalty program Nectar to reward people who donate goods to its charity shops as part of its Tag Your Bag scheme. Donors will earn two Nectar points for every £1 that their donated goods raise when they are sold in shops or online.

Donors will earn 100 points simply by signing up to the Tag Your Bag scheme, which enables Oxfam to claim Gift Aid on the value of donated items sold.

Existing members of the Tag Your Bag scheme can simply link their Nectar card number to their Tag Your Bag scheme account.

Sarah Farquhar, head of retail brand at Oxfam, said that this was the only charity partnership of its kind with Nectar. She added that the charity hoped to reach a new audience of donors through the partnership.

Donors can also choose to donate their Nectar points back to Oxfam by spending them on a range of Oxfam Unwrapped items such as safe drinking water or training a teacher. Five hundred Nectar points are worth £2.50 in this case.
