Amnesty International: unlock the truth about Guantánamo – interactive billboard

Howard Lake | 18 October 2012 | News

Amnesty International Sweden ran this campaign at the beginning of 2012, using iPads in the centre of Stockholm, inviting passers-by to sign a petition marking the 10th anniversary of Guantánamo Bay prison.

The video was shared at the International Fundraising Congress by David Cravinho of Unicef in his workshop on face-to-face fundraising and digital tools. It presented an excellent example of data acquisition and a clear and instant depiction of the impact of an individual’s decision to sign. Watch each person’s signature appear on the big interactive displayboard in the city centre, and the look of surprise and pleasure on those people’s faces.

It isn’t a fundraising campaign, but those signing up were invited to join Amnesty’s Urgent Action campaign. Note how the campaign focuses on the slide to unlock function of an iPad and linking it to the notion of releasing a prisoner.
