ING Direct offers £1,000 to 10 most decent people in Britain

Howard Lake | 12 September 2012 | News

ING Direct is offering 10 prizes of £1,000 to 10 people who are judged to be the most decent people in Britain.
In partnership with Metro newspaper, the bank, whose strapline is “a decent way to do banking”, is inviting nominations of people who have “performed an act of outstanding decency and made a real impact on the community”.
Although not targeted specifically at charities, voluntary organisations shouldn’t find it difficult to nominate some of their staff, volunteers or supporters. The prize does go to the individual rather than the charity, and it isn’t cash: “Winners will receive £1000 vouchers of their choice, anything from experience days to travel, shopping to spa breaks.” Nevertheless, it could be a useful way to try to reward valued staff or volunteers.
The ING Direct Decency Awards close for nominations at 10.00 on 26 November 2012. Winners will be notified by 17.00 on 30 December 2012.
The campaign’s hashtag on Twitter is #bitofdecency.
