Platinum level added to Payroll Giving Quality Mark Awards

The Institute of Fundraising is adding a new ‘Platinum’ level of Quality Mark to its Payroll Giving Quality Mark Awards in order to recognise the very best employers who are promoting payroll giving to their staff.
The new Quality Mark has been introduced to mark the 25th anniversary of the launch of the tax-effective method of giving direct from salary in the UK. It joins the bronze, silver and gold awards.
The Payroll Giving Quality Mark Awards were announced in January 2006 with the aim of recognising and rewarding organisations for making Payroll Giving available to their staff. They form part of an effort to increase participation in payroll giving and help increase the sustainable income stream available to charities.
The Quality Mark acknowledges how payroll giving has been implemented within an organisation and demonstrates its commitment to the good causes that its employees wish to support from their salary.
Employers are recognised with a Bronze, Silver, Gold or now a Platinum Quality Mark Award depending on the take-up of the scheme that they achieve. The new Platinum level recognises employers that go the extra mile in terms of promoting this form of giving to charity.
So far over 80 organisations have applied for this highest level of award, with 29 meeting the criteria. They will receive their awards shortly.
A second wave of awards is expected to be delivered at the National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards ceremony in October 2012 as a further celebration of Payroll Giving’s 25th year.
