Howard Lake | 29 March 2012 | News

Alzheimer’s Society has been chosen by the National Gardens Scheme (NGS) as its guest charity for 2012. It will benefit from the scheme which encourages people to open their private gardens to the public to raise money for a wide range of charities, as well as one additional guest charity each year.
The charity was chosen by NGS volunteers.
Jeremy Hughes, Chief Executive of Alzheimer’s Society said that he had been a fan of the National Gardens Scheme events for a long time. “Anything that can encourage people to celebrate the outdoors whilst raising money for good causes is an incredibly worthwhile enterprise”, he said. “I am sure our supporters and members will be delighted to hear that we have your support.”
Founded in 1927, The National Gardens Scheme has donated more than £22 million to charity in the last ten years. This year it will give £2.6 million in 2012 to nursing and other caring charities from money raised by opening more than 3,800 private gardens in England and Wales.
