The Saints Foundation, backed football club Southampton FC, has raised £1 million in the past year, an increase of 40% on the previous year when it was established.
The Foundation receives considerable support from Southampton FC’s fans, as well as fundraising partnerships with other local businesses and organisations including WestQuay, Molson Coors UK, aap3, Southampton City Council, Comic Relief and the Football Foundation.
The Saints Foundation works with disadvantaged young people and vulnerable adults, “ensuring that the power of football in the community continues to be used to make a huge difference to their lives”.
Mark Abrahams, Head of Saints Foundation, said: “Generating £1million last year shows the Saints Foundation is becoming a charity of choice not just for Saints fans, but for local businesses, funding partners and the wider community.
“The ambitions and vision set out by Nicola Cortese, [Executive Chairman of Southampton FC], to extend the charity’s fundraising potential was new and innovative, but I’m pleased to say it has proved to be the defining factor in our success to date, and will be the key to our continued success going forward.”
