Localgiving's March Match Fund raises £750,000 in two days

Localgiving.com’s latest matched giving campaign reached its target of £375,000 in just two days. With the matched giving element, the March Match Fund raised a total of £750,000 for local charities in England. Indeed, the final figure will be higher when the Gift Aid element of donations is included.
The Localgiving.com March Match Fund began at 09.00 on 1 March 2012, promising to match donations made via the website to charities in England up to a maximum of £375,000. 1,177 charities were eligible to benefit from the campaign.
Localgiving.com ran its first match fund pilot programme in May 2011, and its most recent campaign in December 2011 raised £300,000.
Localgiving.com charges an administration fee, and gives the example of a £20 donation being worth £43.02 to the charity once it has been matched, the Gift Aid applied, and the admin fee deducted.
Single transaction donations of between £5 and £1000 qualified for the matched giving element, and charities could receive up to £2,500 in donations that could be matched. They could receive more of course, but the donations would not be matched.
