Howard Lake | 18 September 2011 | News

The story of the Evening Standard’s successful Dispossessed Fund has been published as a book.
The campaign began as a series of articles on poverty in London by journalist David Cohen. So many readers responded with shock and concern about the conditions revealed that the London newspaper created the Dispossessed Fund to help counter the problem. The campaign’s original target was £1 million, but it has already raised £7.2 million.
Donations have been received from members of the public, from City companies and celebrities and the total keeps growing.
Cohen’s account of the Dispossessed Fund has been published as ‘Calling London’. It costs £10 (+£2.50 p&p) from the Evening Standard and is available as an ebook from Amazon.co.uk.
All Evening Standard proceeds from sales of the book will go to the Dispossessed Fund.
