Nominations and entries for the Epic Awards 2011 are now open to groups across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Presented by Voluntary Arts Network, the development agency for arts participation, the Epic Awards are “designed to shine a spotlight on the excellent work taking place within more than 70,000 voluntary and amateur art and craft groups around the country.”
The winners will receive a package of prizes including training, equipment and publicity, and the opportunity to promote their group.
EPIC stands for engagement, partnership, innovation and creative development.
Robin Simpson, Chief Executive Voluntary Arts, said: “We were impressed and amazed by the range of entries to the Epic Awards 2010, from breakdancers to basket weavers and painters to poets, all doing incredible things in their communities. We’re really looking forward to what the 2011 Epic Awards will bring as we know that there are many more excellent and innovative amateur arts and crafts groups out there.”
