CAF pays tribute to Olga Alexeeva, former Director of CAF Russia
Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) has announced the death of Olga Alexeeva, who worked at CAF for 17 years. She was Director of CAF Russia from 1993 to 2005 and Head of CAF Global Trustees from 2006 to 2010. In July 2010 she left CAF to set up The Philanthropy Bridge Foundation.
Under Alexeeva’s leadership, CAF Russia grew to become one of the largest and fastest-growing grantmaking foundations in Russia, with over 90% of its grantmaking fund coming from Russian donors.
John Low, Chief Executive of CAF, expressed his shock at the news. “Olga was an extraordinarily passionate and compassionate woman”, he said. “She was one of the leading lights in the global philanthropy community and will be missed by many, many people around the world. CAF is privileged to have counted her as one of our own. She was a highly committed and respected colleague and friend to many”.
He offered the organisation’s condolences to Alexeeva’s family.
CAF is in the process of setting up a charitable trust in her memory. Details of the fund and how to donate will be made available on the CAF website.
