Oxfam Wastesaver damaged by fire

Howard Lake | 3 May 2011 | News

Oxfam’s Wastersaver recycling operation in Huddersfield has been badly damaged by a fire. The single storey building handles 12,000 tonnes of donated textiles, clothing and shoes each year, and a “lot of stock” was lost according to the BBC.
The fire at an industrial estate on Saturday was attended by nearly 60 firefighters.
Oxfam set up Wastesaver in 1967. Its staff sort through donated items which are either sent to Oxfam shops, sold online, exported or recycled, all to generate income for the charity.
