Almost half of Yorkshire & Humber organisations to cut staff in next three months

Nearly half of all voluntary sector organisations in Yorkshire and the Humber are planning to cut staff over the next three months despite the fact that many are having to expand their services, according to research carried out by Involve Yorkshire & Humber.
None of the voluntary sector representatives polled expects the financial situation of their own organisation to improve.
Involve Yorkshire & Humber, which acts as a voice for the voluntary and community sector in the region, carries out the research every three months and has noticed a marked change over the past year.
Judy Robinson, chief executive of Involve Yorkshire & Humber, said: “As the Government has made more announcements and the extent of the spending cuts has been revealed, the confidence of the sector has plummeted. The cuts are really beginning to take their toll on the voluntary sector in Yorkshire and yet the sector is being called upon to deliver more public services.”
The survey also revealed that more than three quarters of all voluntary organisations are planning to work in partnership with each other over the next three months.
