Funding opportunity for older peoples' arts programmes in Northern Ireland

Howard Lake | 1 March 2011 | News

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland (ACNI) has opened the next round of funding that supports older peoples’ participation in arts programmes.
The three year £700,000 programme, which is jointly funded by The Atlantic Philanthropies, provides opportunities for older people to engage with the arts, using creativity as a tool to tackle and highlight the social justice issues older people face on a daily basis.
As the programme is of both creative and social relevance, ACNI particularly welcomes projects targeted at areas of need, namely those within the 36 Neighbourhood Renewal Areas and 26 Areas at Risk in Northern Ireland. The programme has funded 16 projects since it was launched last year.
The application deadline is 24 March and decisions on grants up to £25,000 will be made by 24 June while decisions on grants over £25,000 will be made by 8 July.
An information and advice session on the programme will be held at ACNI’s offices in Belfast on 11 March at 10:30am.
