Alzheimer Scotland and Alzheimer's Society are Tesco Charity of the Year 2011

Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland have been selected as Tesco Charity of the Year 2011 and the partnership aims to raise £5 million.
Tesco is encouraging its customers to donate Tesco Clubcards points to the charity. The face value of each Clubcard voucher will then be donated to the appeal.
Tesco Bank is also donating money to the appeal. Until 29 February 2012, for every transaction made on ATMs at Tesco stores, Tesco Bank will donate 0.0125p to Alzheimer’s Society, which will give 10% of that money to Alzheimer Scotland. The bank expects to raise £65,000 from this method of giving. Until the end of January 2011 ATM transactions generated £62,130 for CLIC Sargent, Tesco’s charity of the year for 2010.
Since 1988, Tesco has chosen a different charity every year to be the focus for staff fundraising. The Tesco Charity Trust then tops up staff fundraising to a maximum of £500,000.
