Celebrity mums personalise aprons in support of Yummy Mummy Week 2011
Celebrity mums Tana Ramsay, Patsy Palmer and Karen Hardy have unleashed their creative talents and personalised aprons to mark the launch of Yummy Mummy Week 2011.
The trio are among a group of celebrities who have joined forces in support of the children and young people’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent and its national fundraising campaign, which aims to celebrate Motherhood. Yummy Mummy Week, which runs from Saturday 26 March to Sunday 3 April (Mother’s Day), is all about mums having fun hosting their own fundraising events and spending quality time with children, family and friends.
Alice Beer, Joanna Taylor and Gaby Roslin have also contributed designs, with a helping hand from their own children.
Bestselling author, Tana Ramsay, said: “As a busy Mum of four, I know just how hectic family life can be and it’s not always easy trying to fit everything in, but time together as a family is so important. That’s why I was delighted to be asked to personalise an apron for Yummy Mummy Week, because it was a great opportunity to spend some quality time with my girls having fun and supporting CLIC Sargent, which is a truly fantastic cause. The house ended up covered in gold glitter and I think more ended up on me than the apron – but it was worth it. I hope Mums across the country will really get behind Yummy Mummy Week and enjoy spending time with family and friends while raising money for children and young people affected by cancer.”
Everyone who signs up to take part in Yummy Mummy Week 2011 will automatically be entered in to a special prize draw and will be in with a chance of winning one of the personalised celebrity aprons. The lucky winners will be picked ahead of the week in March and all money raised from the fundraisers will help families with children and young people affected by cancer.
Katie Barlow, CLIC Sargent’s National Events Manager for Yummy Mummy, said: “We are really grateful to all of our celebrity mums who took the time to explore their creative side in support of Yummy Mummy Week 2011.
“We know mums are always busy and it can be hard trying to fit everything in, so why not follow our celebrity Mums and involve your children or your family and friends in your fundraising activity. That way you can enjoy the best of both worlds – quality time together while supporting a really good cause.
“All the money raised really does make a difference and will help CLIC Sargent continue to be there from the point of diagnosis to help the whole family cope with the impact of childhood cancer, its treatment and life after treatment.”
Mums are encouraged to get involved in CLIC Sargent’s Yummy Mummy campaign by hosting a fundraising event of their choice, ranging from pamper nights and coffee mornings to cake sales and ‘dress-pink’ days at work. The funds raised will help CLIC Sargent continue to provide clinical, practical and emotional support for children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Alternatively mums can also support the campaign by purchasing gifts, such as aprons, from the Yummy Mummy range. The fun range of products carrying the ‘I’m a Yummy Mummy’ slogan offers something for every Mum, with gifts ranging from mugs, compact mirrors to t-shirts, aprons and key rings!

About childhood cancer
Every day 10 children and young people are told they have cancer, and diagnosis usually comes as a shock. Treatment normally starts straightaway and can last up to three years. Although survival rates are over 70%, cancer remains the single largest cause of death from disease in children in the UK.
About CLIC Sargent
CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people. It provides clinical, practical and emotional support for young cancer patients and their families, from diagnosis onwards. For more information visit www.clicsargent.org.uk
Note to sub editors
Please note that the name ‘CLIC Sargent’ should not be abbreviated to CLIC, and that the word ‘CLIC’ should always appear in capitals, as above.
