Mavis Rennie died in Melbourne, Australia on 17 January 2011, aged 46, having held senior fundraising positions in the UK and Australia.
She began her career in above and below the line advertising agencies in the UK, before joining international aid organisation CARE International in the UK, first as Direct Marketing Manager and then Head of Fundraising.
