New Chair at Resource Alliance

Akwasi Aidoo has taken up his new post as Chair of the Resource Alliance, the international NGO specialising in building the fundraising capacity of not-for-profit organisations worldwide, and organiser of the International Fundraising Congress (IFC), currently taking place in Holland. He is the first African to be elected to the role.
Aidoo said: “I am looking forward to seeing the Resource Alliance grow over the next few years to become a truly global alliance of fundraisers, serving as a one-stop base of ideas and opportunities for strengthening the capacity of civil society organisations worldwide”.
He added that over the next few years, the Resource Alliance must work hard to help build thriving communities of practice among fundraisers across the world, and help inspire increased public confidence and support for great causes in the midst of a depressing financial crisis.
Aidoo is the founding Executive Director of TrustAfrica, a grantmaking foundation dedicated to securing democratic governance and equitable development in Africa. His previous positions include regional programme officer for West and Central Africa at IDRC, head of the Ford Foundation’s offices in Senegal and Nigeria, and director of the Ford Foundation’s Special Initiative for Africa.
He serves as a director on boards of several non-profit organisations, including The Fund for Global Human Rights, the International Beliefs and Values Institute, and the African Grantmakers’ Network.
