Yesterday’s 30th Bupa Great North Run saw over 4,000 people run to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society, Bupa’s nominated charity for 2010.
The team included model and TV presenter Nell McAndrew, who was running in memory of her grandrather, who died in March this year; and BBC presenter Jamie Darling, who was nursing an Achilles tendon injury. Hollyoaks and Casualty actor Andy Newton-Lee flew in from Los Angeles especially to take part in the 13-mile run.
This is the second year that Alzheimer’s Society has been Bupa’s nominated charity for the Bupa Great Run Series. Last year’s event raised over £1 million and the charity expect to beat that this year. The final Bupa Great Run in the 2010 series is the Bupa Great South Run in Portsmouth on 29 October.
