LONDON (July 21, 2010) — American InterContinental University (AIU) London has announced its end-of-year graduate fashion show raised almost £1,000 for The Esther Benjamins Trust, a UK charity remembering Nepal’s forgotten children. AIU London has raised more than £2,500 for the charity through the school’s fashion shows since 2009.
The glamorous invitation-only event was held at One Marylebone and showcased just a snapshot of the talent produced by AIU London this year. Soul sensation Kym Mazelle gave a powerful performance to open the event which also featured Lizzy Cundy as guest model. The runway featured 14 collections of AIU London students from North and South America, the Middle East and Europe with ground-breaking design work that embodied the most progressive international attitudes.
All proceeds from the evening of glitz and glamour went to The Esther Benjamins Trust. Gill Stark, the dean of fashion at AIU London, said:
“Celebrating the beginning of young graduates’ professional journeys wouldn’t seem right without raising as much money as possible for those less fortunate. We chose The Esther Benjamins Trust as they are a growing charity providing not only residential care but also education and vocational training initiatives for some of Nepal’s most marginalised young people.”
The Esther Benjamins Trust has grown to become the leading UK registered charity that focuses solely on improving the lives of Nepal’s most vulnerable children including child trafficking victims and former street children.
Philip Holmes founder of the charity said;
“Support from AIU London is fantastic. Events such as these bring together inspirational young graduates and fashion insiders and help raise not only much needed funds but also the profile of The Esther Benjamins Trust; helping our voice to be heard.”
