SeeAbility invests £1 million to increase regular giving numbers

Eye care charity SeeAbility, formerly The Royal School for the Blind, is planning to invest £1 million over the next three years to increase its number of regular donors.
Emma Smith, SeeAbility’s Head of Individual Giving, explained: “We will be using a range of creative ways to engage with new supporters, including encouraging people to try simulation glasses so that they can get a feeling for what it is like to have a visual impairment and empathise with people who live with this every day. Conditions such as tunnel vision, glaucoma and limited vision can be replicated using the glasses and give people an insight into these conditions.”
Techniques to be used include door to door, street, private sites and workplace giving. It will also run upgrade campaigns to encourage existing SeeAbility regular donors to give more. The charity is planning to recruit younger donors aged 30 and upwards, given that the majority of its cash donors are much older.
The charity expects to raise more than £3 million as a result of the investment.
