FRSB and IoF to hold telephone fundraising symposium
The Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB) and Institute of Fundraising (IOF) are jointly to host a Telephone Fundraising Symposium for telephone fundraising practitioners on 4 March 2010.
The free event is an opportunity for those involved in telephone fundraising to hear from experts in the field, to discuss their interpretations of legislation and best practice, and identify any areas which they feel may require further clarity.
The event follows a telephone fundraising summit in November where leading regulatory and best practice bodies and a small group of telephone fundraising practitioners (both charities and suppliers) met to debate telephone fundraising legislation and best practice.
The event will be chaired by Colin Lloyd, Chair of the Fundraising Standards Board and the Telephone Preference Service.
A Q&A session will be chaired by Stephen Pidgeon, Chair of the IOF’s Standards Committee. Panellists will include the Institute of Fundraising, the Information Commissioners Office, the FRSB and representatives from the Direct Marketing Association and Telephone Preference Service.
Colin Lloyd, Chair of the Fundraising Standards Board and Telephone Preference Service, said that there was clearly varying interpretations within the fundraising community about how the ./guidance available should be applied in practice. “We hope that this event”, he added, “will enable fundraisers to identify those areas where they require greater clarity and to provide the opportunity to learn from best practice in the field.”
The Telephone Fundraising Symposium will be held on 4 March 2010 from 16.30 – 18.30 at the Wellcome Collection, London. Booking beforehand is essential. Contact sa**@fr**.uk.
