Canadians urged to give more effectively to environmental causes

Howard Lake | 12 February 2010 | News

Give Green Canada is a new resource to promote tax-effective giving to environmental and conservation organisations in Canada.
Its founder Natasha van Bentum points out that “less than two cents of every dollar donated in Canada goes to environmental groups”.
The website aims to help donors clarify their giving goals and to discover relevant environmental and conservation organisations.
It includes resources for environmental nonprofit organisations, including a new distance learning course, “Jump Start Your Gift Planning”, an introduction to gift planning. Courtesy of the site’s funders, there is no charge to take the course.
Van Bentum explained: “Give Green Canada is the first step in developing a national campaign to urge Canadians to give more, and more deeply”.
