Northern Ireland people "most generous"

A survey by Investec Private Bank reports that people in Northern Ireland were the most likely to give money to charity in the UK during 2009. People in Yorkshire and Humberside were the least likely.
The survey for the bank by Research Plus questioned 2,102 people during December.
Twenty per cent said they had given less to charity compared to 2008, although 11% said they had given more than the previous year. Overall though the survey indicated that donations to charity across the UK had fallen by 10%.
The Bank estimated that this means that £5.3 billion was donated to charities during the 2009, £574 million less than in 2008.
