Peter Kay records BBC Children in Need single

Howard Lake | 10 November 2009 | News

Comedian Peter Kay will perform his new single for BBC Children in Need on the night of the telethon on 20 November, the charity’s 30th annual appeal.

The single’s video features “100 famous faces” from the UK and USA and has taken two years to create.

The appeal’s organisers are hoping that the single can reproduce the success of Kay’s 2005 success with a cover version of Tony Christie’s ‘Is This the Way to Amarillo’, released in aid of Comic Relief. That became the best-selling single in the UK in 2005.

Kay said: “It’s taken two years of planning to create the video and I just know people are going to be both astonished and delighted.”

David Ramsden, CEO of BBC Children in Need said: “We’re sure Peter Kay’s Midas touch will help to create an iconic charity single”.
