ISPCC reports drop in voluntary income

Leading children’s charity, the Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children, has reported a significant drop in voluntary income in 2008.

The news follows similar reports from other charities such as Barnardos which recently reported that its income was being badly hit by the deep recession in the Republic of Ireland. The ISPCC’s voluntary income declined from €5.05 million in 2007 to €4.6 million in 2008.

The ISPCC decline may, however, pre-date the recession as its voluntary income in 2006 was €5.5 million.

Other ISPCC income streams such as the legacies and statutory funding have held up in 2008. In 2007 the charity reported net assets of over €12 million.
